This retreat is specifically designed for personal development and professional development... for Couples therapists only and their partners.  You are likely aware that by being a couples therapist does not necessarily mean our own relationship is free from issues brought up in counselling.  Relating as a therapist in your own relationship is boring, anxiety provoking, frustrating and generally inappropriate, especially if one of you have this supposed skill set whilst the other is trying to stay on top of your latest theories about what you should be doing to improve your relationship.  The sacred art of relating is to give in to a 3rd force.  Not you, not to your partner, but rather the space in between the two of you.  Furthermore, even for the most experienced relaters, and with years of couples therapy behind you, to further deepen your relationship requires testing new holding containers such as in the way this retreat will hold you both within an intimate small group structure over a whole weekend.

Working as a group, as a couple and individually, you will discover new tools to support healthy and happy relating that are applicable in your everyday life, for you both and secondarily your clients, whilst enjoying an immersion in an exquisite location in Hepburn Springs.
This is an opportunity for both of you to reach your highest potential of relating to each other.

Our retreats are for couples of all orientations who may be:
  • In a loving relationship, but have little or no sex
  • Stuck in power struggles, hurt and resentment
  • Adjusting to physical changes due to aging, disability or stress
  • Just beginning their relationship, but eager to build a solid foundation
  • Dedicated to restoring, renewing or deepening their sexual relationship

A non-negotiable of being in relationship is to study your own reactivity.  This includes facing childhood wounds as well as taking a further step back into genealogical patterns which made you who you are.  Looking at genealogical patterns makes who you are less personal.  95% of who you are comes from the past, with only 5% capacity remaining to curb the influence from ancestry and change your embedded neural pathways, brain synapses and temperament.  Many of us try to change our partner and others to think like we do, and this is as close as most people get in the attempt to create change.  It doesn’t work.  An antidote to our reactivity and anxiety is engaging ourselves with all of our relational parts. In the search for wholeness, the SAVE Relationships Inventory helps us identify our disconnected parts which require reintegration.

The themes for this weekend retreat will be a further exploration into Passion, Safety, Reactivity & Metagenealogy.  When exploring intimacy, the key issues to emerge are safety and trust. Progress can be seen in the quality of passion and playfulness maintained in the relationship.  If these qualities are not there from the beginning, they need to be discovered and embraced for deeper levels of safety and trust to emerge between the couple.  If you or your partner offer passion and energy, it needs to be cultivated and channelled (Sublimation).  If not, needs will either be repressed or fulfilled with others, both of which dull your energy as a couple.

The aim of this retreat is to bring Eros forward via the study of our own reactivity.  We hope you can join us.

Before arrival, please complete the SAVE Relationships Inventory & the Tree of Life Relationships Inventory and bring your print out of results.  This temperament sorter and set of action plans will help you with the weekend exercises.....Thanks

He loves spending time pottering in the garden, retrofitting caravans and is kept very entertained by the antics of his beautiful nine year old son. Ostii’s greatest wish is to see everybody thrive, waking every morning happy to be alive and excited by the adventure of existence.
